Omaha Gives! is a 24-hour online giving event organized by the Omaha Community Foundation to grow philanthropy and inspire the community to come together to contribute as many charitable dollars as possible within the allotted time to support the work of local nonprofit organizations. There are extra incentives organized by Omaha Community Foundation that are awarded to the nonprofits who raise the most funds, making each donation go even further.
In 2015, we partnered with the Black Police Officers Association to launch a month long social media campaign promoting the fundraising event and our community event, Hip Hop for Peace. Our goals were to increase brand awareness about the BPOA’s mission to enhance the quality of life in the black community and foster a stronger relationship with law enforcement, compel people to give, and encourage people to join us at our Hip Hop for Peace event. Social media posts included inspirational quotes, community stories, and hype all the cool stuff that would be going on at our event.
As a result, we raised $2,276.35 during the day-long fundraising event!
In 2016 we didn’t organize an event, but still raised $760 from online promotions alone.
